TRADITIONAL FESTIVALS

There are many famous events in Thailand: festivals, religious reunions and national celebrations. One of the most important is the birthday of the King of Thailand Bhumibol Adulyadej (Rama IX), national holidays for locals. The Thai people celebrate all along the year the monarchy, to which they gave a great respect.

The most impressive event is certainly the Thai New Year (Songkran): It takes place in April for 3 days of celebrations, marking the beginning of the lunar new year. Many traditions rhythm these happy days, as the friendly water battles everywhere in the country, the celebration of elders by pouring them some jasmine water on their hands as a sign of respect.
