HEALTH AND SECURITY

Only yellow fever vaccine is mandatory under certain conditions. If you have visited an area of risk (Africa or South America) within 6 days of your arrival in Southeast Asia, you will be asked for proof of your vaccination. However, several vaccines are recommended, it is best to consult your doctor before you leave for Myanmar. Be aware that tap water is not drinkable but you can find bottled water everywhere.

Although Myanmar has recently opened to the world, it is a safe country for tourists, but it is forbidden to visit certain areas for security reasons. The Burmese will never take the risk of stealing a tourist because the penalty incurred is very high. Insects, snakes, rats and monkeys are very present so you must be vigilant, knowing that Myanmar is one of the countries where the mortal bites of snakes are the most numerous. Be aware that any drug consumer or owner incurs very heavy penalties.
