The roads’ condition in Laos is better on the major roads but more than three quarters of the road network don’t have asphalt cover. Laos is a mountainous country so short journeys become quickly a one tiring day trip.

Concerning the road code, Laotians are driving on the right. Despite of the rules, almost same as international standard, it’s advisable to be very vigilant because many locals don’t respect it.
In all the country, you can find several transportation as the Jumbo, sâam-lâaw, sakai-t’ep and túk-túk, local buses or taxi that you always can share. You can also rent a motorcycle if you have an international driving license (be aware of motorcycle stealing in the region you’re).
