TRADITIONAL FESTIVALS
In Laos, there are many traditional or religious festivals linked to the history of Buddha, but some are of particular importance to the inhabitants.
Pii mai or Songkran (Buddhist New Year): This is the most important holiday of the country which lasts almost a week around the 13th to 18th April of each year. It’s a Tradition to finish the current year and start a new one.
Bun Bang Fai: the “Rocket Party” which is celebrated at the full moon of May to make a call to rain after the dry season.
Among the celebrations in Laos, only one is a commemoration, Vanh Saas (the national holiday) commemorates the 1975 revolution. The anniversary date of the Pathet Lao (National-Communist Party) came to power on 2 December 1975.
