A New Art Space Made From Recycled Materials In Hanoi
A 250 – meter – long local sanitary landfill stretching along the Red River’s bank in Phuc Tan Ward, Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi has been converted into an eye – catching art space. The “Phuc Tan community art street” is part of a project which is launched by Hoan Kiem District People’s Committee to improve the living environment of the residents.
The artists hope the artworks not only transform the appearance of local living space but also raise people’s awareness of environmental protection.
There are total 16 art installations created by skilled and talented hands of domestic and foreign artists. All these artworks are made of recyclable materials such as plastic bottles of water, wheel rims and exhaust pipes, the rubbish on the road and other recycling area in the city.
The work “Modern Saints Giong” – author Vietnamese-American artist Nguyen Uu Dam, is featured by the battle for a green life made of recycled materials in combination with CNC laser cutting recycled iron sheet.
The works “Paddled wares” and “Reliefs of Indochina” by artist Nguyen The Son which recalls the bustling trading activities of traders of Vietnamese people in the past.
The installation named “Riverside City” – author sculptor Nguyen Ngoc Lam, which is created by old drums.
